The Cost of NOT Training – Organisations commonly think of training as a cost, but there are many reasons for viewing training as an investment. The cost of not training employees consist of direct losses in productivity through increased risks of other sorts of losses. The direct losses and costs can be extensive, and the risks can be even more extensive. If for example, a valuable employee leaves because he considers that the organisation does not support his ongoing learning, then the organisation may face high costs to recruit a replacement. If the person’s duties cannot be covered in the interim by other employees because the organisation has not crossed-skilled its workforce, then the turnover costs are further multiplied.
